Moving Day...or at least Loading Day

The sky here can be so deceptive. Although it was slightly overcast all day, the only thing that cloud cover served to do was create a nice little cocoon for all the sweltering air! It was 85 degrees by the time I went out to buy a final roll of packing tape at 8:30 in the morning. The humidity was crazy, and all I could think was 'I better get some more cash to tip these movers!' But, I set the tone first thing by calling out to them 'Say SUPER EXCITED' as they were walking in and I clicked their picture ;)

More Bars (or is it more boxes?) in More Places

Four hours later, we were left with this....

a final photo of the bright yellow nursery that's been Charlie's only home. We're so excited for the next step in our adventure, but oh-so-sad to leave our friends behind.

Charlie Loves to Chat!

Breakfast in the Park

We had a joint celebration for Henry and Charlie's birthdays, along with a chance for them to play with their friends one last time. We celebrated by bringing fruit, yogurt and granola for parfaits, bananas and, of course, a tower of donuts in lieu of cake to one of the boys' favorite parks. It was really fun, and I couldn't have ordered more perfect weather. The humidity was down to 10% and it was about 80 degrees at the end.

The Last Supper

Some of the women from my half-marathon training group arranged a little going away for me...it's amazing how close you get to people who you share something physical with. It's kind of hard to find your flaws and insecurities when you're training for something like that, but also, you get to see all the compassion, humor and joy they can bring. These are ladies I'll definitely stay in touch with!

Our last trip to Davis...

Charlie's first trip to the dentist. It was not what one might call a raging success, but he didn't scream or anything, so I'll take it.

Unlike Mr. H who does fantastically and always has a lot of questions for the hygienist.

Strawberry Picking at Indian Head Farms

My moms' group went on our annual strawberry picking outing. Since we are getting ready to move, I just had Henry fill his little bucket...which he and Charlie filled then ate on the way home. Henry doesn't get to play with his friend Anna very often, but when he sees her, he loves her!

We tried to take the chance to get a family picture, but Henry was having none of it. Preview of the teen years? He just wanted to sit with Anna, not his boring old mom.

They filled their bucket, and their bellies, then promptly ate the whole bucket on the way home. Yes, three hours later, they both had a little touch of the old diarrhea.

Henry was so excited to hand her the money...seriously, crankiest farm stand worker ever. Hands down.

Ice Cream Social

After the graduation, they had an ice-cream social. It was really cute to see H put about 2-3 of each thing on his ice-cream...all those choices!

The Graduate

As you can tell, this is an incredibly serious and solemn occasion

Trying so hard to be quiet

With his diploma and little packet of books they put together for him. They had a little portfolio from the year in there, and a letter to the parents about how they'd watched them grow over the year; it was very sweet.

I'm so excited for my first Graduation!

Turtle Power

I put him safely back on the grass and he started to peek his head out...then Henry obsessively asked me about the salmonella I'd warned him about so he wouldn't touch the turtle :)
