Legoland

Henry loves to build with his blocks. It's really interesting, because he's getting better at building things that are real...he'll put blocks together that look like a helicopter or truck (roughly) and is very proud of them

Henry's trying to wear his frog's white jacket...it's just a touch too small...I took it off when his hands starting turning grey (well maybe a little before.)

He's in the Army Now...

Jared was commissioned today, and took his oath at our house. We are very excited that he is now Captain Wutzke, and plan to have a more formal "re-commissioning" ceremony if any family are interested in attending at a later date.

Southwick's Zoo

Henry and I at the toddler play area at the Southwick's Zoo south of our house. There was all this new toddler equipment out of the heavy duty plastic, in the shade. What does Henry play on? All the old school metal slides and rockers in the scorching sun! He stood at the top of the elephant and said "hoooooot" everytime, but then just slid down. (Don't worry, I checked to make sure that he wouldn't burn himself)...he is a very wilfull child...wherever does he get it?

Daytrip to Newport, Rhode Island

I am still constantly amazed by how much there is to do here! Most of it is low-cost, and within a couple of hours' drive. Jared and I took Henry to Newport Beach in Rhode Island. The water was a little sketchy because there was some weird seaweed tide thing, but it was fun nonetheless.

It has been so hot here, and I'm gettin' wicked tan!

Davis Farmland

Henry and I went to Davis Farmland this morning while Jared recovered from a graveyard shift. We had SO much fun. Davis farmland is this amazing 7th generation farm that they turned into a children's discovery farm after a massive fire destroyed the majority of their dairy operation in 1990. They now house a lot of endangered farm animals, and have even gone in with the San Diego Zoo to create a frozen bank of some of the animals in the event that they are needed in the future. They had some Scottish Highland cows (the original animal that started the idea) and a ton of different goats, sheep, pigs, it was a lot of fun! It's all so kid-friendly (obviously) and the "Play and Spray" at the one end was a big hit with Henry! In the top picture, he looks like an angry fashionista telling the Paparazzi "I said no more photos!" The bottom photo was taken just by my turning around after taking the water shots. This was really a great place, and we'll be going back again and again! Their food area is "The Herd Rock Calfe" and they have a new corn maze every year...this year it's "Viva Lost Vegas"...pretty crafty people!

Rub a dub dub, little boy in the tub...

hmmmm...he'll love this picture when he's older

Henry and I went to Town Trucks, but by the time we got there, he wasn't so sure about it, so we just took a picture and left. I couldn't get a very close picture, because he kept walking toward me.

Henry loves to lounge by the pool when he's done swimming...I love it because it gives me time to relax as well!
He's gonna be a "Solid Gold" dancer...
Henry sits at the big table now. Please note the towel around the waist holding him on...I learned that trick at Elsie's over Easter...I'm sure that all you other mom's out there have used this trick, but Elsie gets the credit because she used it with me :)

Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug

Henry has begun carrying his doll with him most places around the house. Everything new that Henry learns, his baby learns as well. What a big boy!

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen..blah blah

Soooo...I began a knitting frenzy during my last months at DHS, making copious amounts of scarves and even the occasional blanket. When I got to Mass and realized that I was going to have more time on my hands, I decided to tackle clothing for my child. I made a 6 month version of this sweater first, as a gift...then thought it would look good on Henry. Unfortunately, my darling husband made the following statement as I put the sweater over Henry's head for the first time..."Are you joining the Von Trapp Family Singers Henry?" Ahhh...the sweet smell of success. I couldn't stop laughing, and of course, Henry wouldn't take it off...He's very proud of his German Heritage...too bad those VonTrapps were Austrian, eh?
