Big Brother Henry

A couple of the women from my mom's group threw me a shower/tea yesterday. Big Brother Henry was not forgotten :) My friend Erin made this shirt for him, along with a bunch of personalized bibs and a blanket for Charlie. The design and writing are all machine-embroidered. This is the friend that I called and asked a ton of quilting questions to! Another mom got him this cool truck book, and each square has a sliding window that reveals a bigger or smaller portion of the picture underneath (or a word). I think I've found the alternative to pop-ups that my kids can use! I brought my camera with me to the shower, but I forgot to use it! There were a couple of other moms there who had cameras, so when they email me the pics, I'll post them.

Look at those eagle brows...he's got the Edvalson scowl down pat!

Roger Williams Zoo (Providence, RI)

Henry has been watching the Disney movie The Wild a lot lately, so he was very excited to see that a Wildebeest was a real animal, he stood for a long time looking at them.
One of the baby giraffes at the zoo.
Yes, he's wearing a leash...after one too many times of having to break into a full run to catch him after he wouldn't listen, it was decided that this was the best solution. I have to say that both he and I were a lot happier today. He wouldn't have been able to see the animals very well sitting in the stroller, and I would have been yelling at him all day to stop if he were unrestrained, so we've found the happy medium, until he can understand what 'get run over by a car' really means.
I didn't use the zoom at all to take this picture. Henry and I were super close to this giraffe, and Henry was pretty excited. He had been asking about giraffes and zebra on the ride to the zoo, so I was glad to be able to see both. The only disappointment, which he didn't realize as he told Jared that we saw elephants when we got home, was that they're doing construction to eliminate all cages on the premises so don't currently have elephants there.

Speak Softly

And carry a big stick...seriously, I don't know how this got into the little tot lot at our apartment complex, but Henry was pretty stoked to find it. He was not so happy when I made him leave it with me, as I was afraid he was going to seriously injure himself or someone else (me) with it. :)

The Bollywood Grill

We took Jared out for Indian food on his actual birthday. Henry has a couple bags of dollar store plastic animals that keep him entertained the whole time. In the video, he's saying "Animal Patrol" which is his interpretation of the song on the Jungle Book when the Elephants are marching, but they're actually saying "The Aim of Our Patrol" but he sounds cute anyway...he loves that movie and anything elephant-related lately.

Dean Park

They had just put in the new sand in the sand-boxes, which is where Henry usually spends almost all of his time.

This park is great because I'm standing at the sandboxes taking a picture...there is another sandbox behind me and some swings, etc. I am looking at two giant play structures, then there are more swings beyond it, and the ENTIRE toddler/young child play area is fenced in...a must with Henry!

Quilt Crazy!

Grandma Elsie made this twin quilt for Charlie. The tag on the upper corner says that it was made for Charlie, where, the date and that it was by Great Grandma Elsie. It's beautiful.

Granny made this crib sized quilt for Charlie. I love all the bright colors! The tiny pieces confirmed to me that this is not a pattern I'll be trying to replicate myself ;)

Kickin' It Old School

Hey Everyone, I was just going through all the videos on our computer and found this one...you forget how little (and chubby) they used to be! This first one is a little boring, but of course I found it riveting...

Getting Closer!

Just about 4 and a half weeks until the alleged D Day. The hospital has a cool email system where I've already input all friend and family email addresses, so you'll get pictures and details emailed to you within the day or so of the baby being born...let's hope he makes a timely entrance :)

What? I'm totally comfortable!

Maybe the elephants will fit a little better.

And so it begins...we got a bouncy chair for Charlie from my mom, and Henry wanted to use it for himself, so I suggested that he put Oscar in it instead...a happy compromise

Henry was helping Jared open his birthday gifts...we opened them early because we did a party for Jared that night. He's having a hard time learning the difference between From and For :) I tried to get him on camera, but he sang "Happy Birthday Dear Daddy" about 500 times in a row, and when I tried to film him he wouldn't.

Okay, so this one requires a little explanation (aka defense of myself). It looks like I'm shoving him around in the water, but we're supposed to be singing "Wheels on the Bus" with hand motions used in swimming. Henry is not real into it as it's the last song of the lesson. It looks like an old silent film where I'm just pushing him all around....I'm not :) Also, not sure what's with the pixels...they are usually much better..oh well.

"Swimmin Lessons"

Henry at his last swimming lesson. He had so much fun. I'm wearing a 'miracle' suit that is not maternity and is bulging at the seams, which is why it looks so small...the things we'll do for our kids, because seriously, these pictures of me in a bathing suit were not what I wanted to post at this point! (FYI...I think that henry thinks the actual suit is his "swimming lesson" because when I got ready to go this morning, he said "You got your swimmin' lesson on?")

Henry has found a new love for jumping in the water. At the lesson, he was climbing out and jumping in instead of doing what the rest of the class was doing at the time. However, when the designated time for jumping in came (singing a song about frogs) he stood on the edge of the pool, apparently having met his jumping quota for the day.

I'm an Owl!

I was doing laundry yesterday, and Henry was standing on the pile of the unfolded masses (don't worry, they're folded and put away now) saying "I'm an Owl! In the tree!" He's so funny. He had just gotten out of the bath and was ready for bed...anything to put off bed time.

Too Cool for School

Henry got new sunglasses and decided he wanted to wear them ALL DAY
