Strawberry Hill

Today Henry and I picked strawberries at Tougas Farm. I'm always so amazed at the difference between fresh-picked, locally grown strawberries and the ones you get in the grocery store. I picked ten pounds and Henry got about 1...with lots down the front of his shirt! Then we went over to the playground and ate a strawberry-cider donut and enjoyed the sunshine. It's finally a nice day out, already at about 80 degrees by 10am.

I'm stocking up now, because my mom's group is having a jam making night next month. Now, I just need to prep them for the freezer.

Storyland in Glen, New Hampshire

We took a day trip up to NewHampshire in order to visit Storyland, which is a theme park that's based on fairy tales but geared toward pre-schoolers. Henry was able to ride all the rides, and Charlie would have been able to ride most of them, but we didn't push his classification as a 'toddler' so he and I spent most of the day waiting and watching Henry and Daddy whoop it up. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun!

The Flying Fish

The Bamboo Shoots. One of two rides that Henry and I went on together...all the other rides? Fuggedahboudit! I got nauseous just trying to get pictures of them!

I had to get a picture of this. You can't even see Henry because two other random boys were very eager to help him push the button, but we have a picture just like this of Manda and I at the lion fountain in the Salt Lake City zoo...ahhh, memories ;)

Henry saw Cinderella and went flying up to her with arms open "Cinderellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Then she turned to him and offered to take a picture, and this is as close as he would stand. He then followed her to her castle, where he harassed her with questions about what happened to her other glass slipper...she finally told him that the Grand Duke broke it, and when pressed, she said it was because he was mean. She wasn't sure where the Grand Duke had gone (he's not at Storyland)...being the persistent child that he is, he proceeded to ask every. single. character. all. day. long. if they knew where the Grand Duke had gone. He was going to find that other slipper!

We specifically planned our trip for this day so that Henry could see his best friend, George. Well, we saw him after the whole Grand Duke incident, so this is him asking George repeatedly "Where's the Grand Duke?" as all the other kids were trying to get their pictures taken with him.

And he wasn't happy that George couldn't answer his question...

Henry and Daddy on the Twirling Turtles. This one looked awful...there were tons of kids that got on laughing and got off sobbing. They have a 'thumbs down' you can give if you ever want to stop the ride, but these sadistic parents never stopped the ride...oh, if I had my digital camera instead of a limited amount of exposures in my "storyland limited edition disposable" ;)

Tonight Jared and I were eating our dinner of an assortment of maki from Bauhinia. Henry, who is a notoriously picky eater these days, came over and asked what we were eating. I gave him a piece of the avocado roll and told him it was sushi, and that it's what mermaids eat. He popped the whole piece in his mouth, chewed and swallowed it.

By the end of his taste testing, he was eating full-on maki, with pieces of shashimi tuna and salmon on top! I'm so impressed...maybe 'mermaid food' is the way to go!

Today's Your Birthday...

We celebrated Charlie's birthday with some friends, and he had a great day! My camera is still not in action, so my friend Michele took pictures for me. She has a beautiful camera and a couple different lenses, so I basically got a free session with a budding photographer, as she's decided to start her own business! Enjoy the photos, I certainly do!
