Haleakala

We drove to the summit of Haleakala. It was pretty amazing to go from sea level to 10,000 feet in just about 30 miles...we were above the clouds and it was amazing!

I like Shrimp...

On our last full day, we ate at Bubba Gump's, which was pretty fun! It had open windows, so the view and sounds were great.

Hawaiian Hank

Henry is runway bound...he got into my luggage and put together this ensemble...I did not pick it for him!
Henry loves to sit at the big table now...we'll have to get him a booster, but he's doing pretty well on his own.
Henry in his little Hawaiian suit that his dad picked out...it's tourist chic.
Henry had such a great time with Granny and Papa. When we got home, he got to try Root Beer for the first time...I think he's a fan

That New Car Smell

Jared and I made our first joint purchase! We took the plunge and moved into being a one-car family for now...one less trip to Iowa City for Jared :) Henry was very good for the 5 hours that we were at the dealership, and bonded with his friend the red balloon, much like Tom Hanks to his volleyball "Wilson." He had a death grip on that sting, and even fell asleep holding it. Lest you worry, we removed the balloon from his crib after he was asleep...We're really excited about our new car, and Henry is happy with it too!

Jared and I ate at a fun place called "The Five and Diner" in Worcester. Each booth had its own jukebox and the waiters wore poodle skirts and bobbie socks. The food was great, too! I asked the waitress what the area was known for that I could get as a souvenir. She couldn't think of anything, so she called out to the other patrons. People said normal things like Boston Baked Beans, Clam Chowder, Lobster, and then two older men at a table yell out "Crime" and "The Lottery"...the others were not pleased with their responses :) It will be a whole new world when we go there, but it should be an adventure.

We spent Easter with Grandma Elsie in Myrtle Creek...it was a lot of fun. Henry had a great time playing with all of Grandpa Ben's treasures in the back yard...especially the huge wood splitter that he spent about an hour trying to pick up! Guess the Easter Bunny is a John Deere fan as well :)

Eggcellent!

Henry had so much fun dying eggs....except he kept sucking that aweful vinegar and water dye off the eggs! It was pretty gross! We had a great time at Great-Grandma Wutzke's house
